Dean needs help. He can’t get the images that flashed before him to go away, and the sound of Castiel ’s screams still echo in his ears. He’s had the same reoccurring nightmare for months, and nothing can make it go away. When he finally comes clean and admits it to Castiel, he’s hoping for at least a small amount of relief from his terrors. For one night, at least, he’ll sleep soundly.

Dean wasn't exactly sure how he'd ended up here. Three hours earlier, his evening had been perfectly ordinary. No bars, no walls, no furious angels, certainly no horny douchebags. Okay, maybe one horny douchebag. But that had been Dean himself, so that was fine. Yeah, so, it had been one of those evenings. Dean got into an accident and was most likely going to die, but a miracle happens and Dean lives but for some reason he can't see colors any more, all he sees is a grayscale of it so they all look dull. As time progresses, Dean still never got used to the same black and white filter of the world. All he wanted was to see colors again. One day, Dean notices a student who was filled with colors. That student ended up being Castiel, the angel who saved Dean but did not restore his eyesight to normal. Dean is in his last year of college with his best friend Alfie and after deciding they don't want to do another year in the dorms, they get a small apartment of their own. Money is tight as both men try to do schooling full time and hold down jobs. It's not easy, but Alfie's older brother Cas is happy to help. If they need groceries or can't make their rent, he takes care of it so they can focus on their studies. And so what if Cas shows up at the apartment with increasing frequency, even when his brother isn't home, and so what if maybe his gaze lingers a little too long on Dean. Dean could still hear it, even now that they had been back for a few weeks. He could see the horror on Cas' face, the panic. He could hear the pain in his voice, recalled how it had twisted and turned in the depths of his eyes and contorted his features. He could still feel his own body go numb with hurt and shame, only to come alive with pain and dread once Cas told him about it. He hadn't been able to say it. He'd finally been ready to say it. But he didn't. Couldn't. Cas had begged him. Had begged him not to. "Dean. Please, if you're about to say what I think you are- please. Please, you can't-" Dean had waited so long to be able to say it, had fought and denied and swallowed those words, those feelings so many times.
