Serena Collins was no stranger to torment and hopelessness . She had been dealt it for the majority of her life, whether by family or friends. Living in a two parent home was a nightmare she wished she could wake up from. Her father abused both her and her mother day in and day out. Instilling unchallenged fear and pain into a family he promised to protect. She grew up fearing for her life and the life of her mother until one day someone decided that her pain, the pain she endured for so long, shouldn't exist.

When Alexander Bishop moved in across the street her life changed. She took an interest in him, the guy who never once said hello or morning, the guy who defended her against the monster that called himself her father even after being forbidden to see her as she did not fit his father's image. But he never listened, he loved her and would do anything for her including going to jail for her.

It's been almost 6 years since Alexander and Serena have seen each other. After being denied visits and no phone calls were made they weren't able to communicate with another, to still know one another. When life threw a piece reality towards her, faster than her mind could register or even comprehend. Serena thought of her best friend the one who was always there for her.
