A decade and a half after the official fall of the United States of America, regional factions have developed urban towns with a constant government presence. The emergence of 'Gifted', or magical individuals change the scope of the post republic fall. With global incentive in using these gifts, terrorist attacks, government raids, and violent policing grow in protest of the super-powered people. 

But there is hope. 

Peni Wyr, a preteen girl ushered away from dangers to magickind, and a few other magicians are sent to a stable in the rural Midwest. There, she learns that their new safe haven is also the same place she'll use her magic. Among a snarky telekinetic, a brooding ex-government operative, and an immigrant escaping persecution, Wyr must measure up to explosive orbs, electrical generation and manipulation, and more as their new home welcomes more than she bargained for. 

In the city, unfortunate mishaps leads a head scientist to discover the disappearance of monitored magicians, discovering their whereabouts and assembling a weapon that changes everything. 

Peni and the others at Ground Zero are forced to defend themselves and each other in a story of power, camaraderie, and finding the strength to do what's right no matter the cost.

The exit door lead to the back of the building so it was pitch black. I leaned against the wall trying to control myself. Blood was running down my arm and head. My hair was stuck to my face from all the sweat and blood. Everything was spinning around me and the ground seemed like it was shaking. Groaning I sat down and put my head on my knees. He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. I heard the opening of a car and the next thing I knew I was being thrown into a car. My head hit the hard leather seat and the door shut behind me. Maybe this is how my life will end. Maybe I should just let it happen. Maybe I was destined to die alone as a no one. With that I let the darkness consume me.

Hello, I want to first thank you for taking the time to read my proposal, as I know that there are many others you must work through who have done the same as I; please, trust me when I say that your attention is greatly appreciated. I am messaging you today because I wish to submit a selection of excerpts taken from the series of science fiction/science fantasy stories I have written; called Psychic the Saga. I'm a former United States Marine, and a currently enrolled Aerospace Engineering undergrad at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Over the course of the last eight years, during which the earlier stated experiences have occurred in my adult life, I have continually written the story I am now presenting for your consideration. Outside of writing as a hobby, and what was needed when submitting assignments, my only writing credential is a published engineering research paper in the European Physical Letters: 'Tailorable Twisting of Biomimetic Scale-Covered Substrate'; of which, my main contributions were that of the experimentation, and the editing/proofreading of the paper. In regards to my submission, the story of Psychic follows our trio and the rest of their friends as they fight for peace and stability within the newly unveiled realm of psychics, once hidden amongst the world for untold millennia. The statistics of Book One are as follows: word count = ~205279, page count = ~396, target audience = young/new adult (16~34 yr. of age). The reasoning behind this age range is two-fold: the concepts, morals and lessons, themes, and situations/ problems faced by the main characters are both relatable and beneficial for this age group; also yes, there is foul language, and yes there are very visceral depictions of violence. Also also (lol), I wish to give a disclaimer in terms of any romance, love, or anything else similar; I intentionally never take the story beyond anything more intimate than a kiss. So there. Bay steals from the till to save up for magic school, but she's addicted to Story, an immersive experience drug, and she'll spend all her solidae to get it. And more. Follow our resident mage (a magical person) Claire Dunsworth who becomes a NYC Mage Detective and her new partner the rugged Detective Raven Black as they investigate crimes of a magical nature. Claire is a mage with exceptional magical talent if not too exceptional for the higher ups within the Guild that monitors all mages of the world. She is an orphan and grew up in a Home for Magical Children on Mage Island, floating in the middle of the Pacific. Under constant watch and scrutiny from the Guild, Claire now finds herself working side by side with a Black, the very family that was breed to become mage assassins, killing thousands of her people. The fact that the Black is also a handsome man does not help Claire's case at all. Raven has nothing to do with his family and yet is hostile to Claire upon finding out she's a mage. He worked as a detective to make sure everyone had equal justice but when he got his new partner Claire his world is thrown upside down. Not only is she a mage whom he silently despises but she's also the most beautiful woman he's ever laid eyes on. As they work together and find a rocky truce between themselves they travel the city solving crimes with a magical association. Raven accepts Claire without cause while Claire lays her life down for the man who stole her heart. As they fall for one another a dark figure lerks in the shadows, plotting something sinister for our mage Claire. Could this dark figure perhaps have something to do with Claire's unclear past? Can Raven, a Black, somehow save this woman before she's taken from him forever?

Being Head Witch of an entire city is less leader-ing than the job title would have one think; it's more a fine blend of disciplinary work, keeping the entire 'magic thing' under wraps, vetting new witches and directing them to the guidance they need, and keeping track of magic layering tomes. And goddamn it all, her partner just managed to disappear at the wrong time; right after finding and apprehending a particularly violent newfound witch flexing his newfound magic, and right before it was time to take care of the tome that caused it all. (Features mild-to-severe swearing, some mild descriptions of mostly magical violence, graphic descriptions of black magic in the most literal sense, five cats, a naughty dog, witches with stupidly specific magics, a bookmobile, at least two established romantic relationships, at least two non-binary characters, and a literal punchy witch.)
