If it hadn't been for Force India spotting her and recommending the young girl, despite her gender, to be a part of a dominant F2 team, Alyssa would never have made it all the way into F1. The pink team, who were successfully clawing back after a dip in performance, liked to gamble; it was certainly a risk when they decided to promote Alyssa up into F1 as a replacement for Sergio Perez. The Brit was only eighteen years old when Force India told her about Checo's retirement, and how she was to be his replacement. Her ability to maintain her F2 champion status despite filling in for him in the F1 seat on two occasions was a main motivator for the decision. They were aware of her struggles to make it as far as she had done so respected her wishes to keep the helmet on and her identity hidden.
