For the end of the fourth season, Mike realizes that the real reason he couldn't say I love you to El was because he already loved someone else, but he doesn't know if he loves him back, so he never says it (also, he grew up in a really homophobic place, so he couldn't accept the fact he liked a boy).
Mike's a jerk when it comes to Will, unconsciously wants to push him away, so he couldn't be gay.
What if Will's life's in danger? yk, it all started in Hawkins with him, now it gotta end with him.

One night Will wakes up from a nightmare seeing and feeling Vecna and he doesn't want to be anywhere but back in Michael's room sleeping with him like when they were little. Because of Hawkins destruction and the "gates of hell" many people moved out of it.
