In their last months attending the Naval Academy, main pilot Maverick and is weapon systems officer Goose are tested to their highest abilities in a above water dogfight training exercise. When their wingman and dear friend has a close call with the sea below, he turns in his wings; leaving Maverick and Goose at the number one spot in the Pacific Coast Naval Academy. The two aviators are called into the commander's office, and are delivered news they never thought possible. Picking up girls and trashy takeout on the way, Maverick and Goose have been sent to the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instruction Program. Or as the pilots call it...Top Gun.
