However, this everyday routine of Ariana's life is disturbed when an unexpected letter arrives from London directed especially to her. The content of the letter puzzled her, for it wasn't a mere coincidence that she was invited to attend a boarding school in England, not when that school housed special kids with unnatural abilities like her. 

Deciding that she would go, Ariana faces more than she bargained for when many mysteries surrounding not just herself, but her newly made friends lay there waiting for her.

Like I said, these girls have almost nothing in common, except for one thing. Lia. They were all Lia's best friends before she got kidnapped. After Lia was rescued over the summer she got put into therapy by her worried mom. During therapy Lia talks about her best friends and how thinking of them helped her cope with surviving her kidnapping.
