Classic 4-day Inca Trail

Day 1: The trek begins at Kilometer 82, where you'll meet your guide and fellow hikers. You'll start hiking along the Urubamba River, passing through beautiful valleys and enjoying views of snow-capped mountains. The first day's trek is relatively easy and covers a distance of about 12 kilometers, ending at the campsite of Wayllabamba.

Day 2: This is considered the most challenging day of the trek as you ascend to the highest point of the trail, known as Dead Woman's Pass (4,215 meters or 13,829 feet). The trail becomes steeper, and the air gets thinner. However, the incredible panoramic views along the way make the effort worthwhile. After reaching the pass, you'll descend to the campsite at Pacaymayo.

Day 3: This day is a mix of uphill and downhill hiking. You'll pass through different ecological zones, including cloud forests, where you can spot a variety of flora and fauna. Along the way, you'll visit the archaeological sites of Runkurakay and Sayacmarca before reaching the campsite at Wiñay Wayna. Day 4: On the final day, you'll wake up early and hike to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) to witness the magical sunrise over Machu Picchu. From there, you'll descend to the famous citadel and have a guided tour of the ruins, learning about the history and significance of this ancient Inca city. Afterward, you'll have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own before descending to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax and soak in hot springs.
