When Tails and Sonic go to explore a cave, they don't think too much about it. But now, something has gone wrong, Sonic is as good as gone, and something has taken his place, hell-bent on taking and destroying everything the hedgehog loves and holds dear. It's up to Tails and Shadow to fix it, but how long will they even survive?

Basically I read all the Sonic EXE lore and went "cool, but how about I do my own thing" and made whatever the heck this dark pit is

trigger warnings: blood, lots and lots of blood, maybe some gore? Idk. Probably just the blood tbh. Oh, and character death, and uhhh if I missed any do please let me know, I'd hate to accidentally make someone uncomfortable with my book,  no matter how dark it is.

He held the book against his chest as if his life depended on it. He had promised, he wouldn't let go of it. His breath was heavy and ragged, the smoke filling his lungs intrusively. Green eyes snapped everywhere, looking desperately for an exit. He jumped when his back met the thick wall behind him, his eyes landing on the awful smoky creature. Each step it took made a sloppy sound that made the blue hedgehog cringing. Sonic was screwed. He tightly shut his eyes as he saw the creature jumping towards him, protecting the book instinctively. But when he thoughts that he would hear his own scream, his ears perked up at the sound of an audible squeak and a grunt. He peeked one eye out, seeing only smoke from where the monster was a second ago. Sonic's eyes widened and he looked around immediately, his hands slightly shaking. As he looked up at a roof, he noticed a silhouette, standing there, a giant smoky scythe resting over his shoulder. His crimson red eyes locked onto green emerald ones. "Pathetic." the figure said, making a shiver run up Sonic's spine." That's where they meet new allies with special abilities and other creatures as the search for the Chaos Emeralds again who was got spread away. Will they find the person they are looking for and stop Mephiles from destroying everything? (This story is based on Sonic Prime and Sonic X Shadow Generations).
