A Dungeons and Dragons single-chapter story of a new crew (my children) that decided to try out the starter pack of The Lost Mines of Phandelver. It may have been one of the worst fails I have ever witnessed. Nobody knew how to do anything, including myself. I couldn't be a character because I had to DM, and the rest of the players decided to all go rogue on each other. They paired off in factions, worked against each other, and actively caused the demise of the entire crew. As Duncan, I had to come in and save them in case they ever wanted to try it again. This was the debut of the two newly created D&D characters of Duncan Avierness and Lilly Tahoma.

A RANGER IS BORN
First off, this story was not written by me. I am posting it for a friend of mine, with permission of course. This took place in a Dungeons & Dragons game over 30 years ago. It is a about how one of the player characters got his start; Crentar Bronn. He is a human ranger of 1st level in this story. This is important to note, because it'll bring more perspective as you read the story. I was the DM (Dungeon Master) for this game. At the time, we were still in high school, which of course, gives away our age. lol I decided to have each character do it solo before they actually met up with each other. A teaser so-to-speak. Eventually, there was five player characters in the game. My friend who ran Crentar Bronn remembers this whole solo adventure to this very day in great detail. A few years after the game is when he wrote this story. We were recently reminiscing about 'old times' and he told me that he actually wrote it out as a story. He was then able to find it on an old hard drive & then sent it to me. I was very surprised at how good this is & how great his memory was from that adventure. I'm flattered that he was so inspired by it, that he turned it into a story! I hope you enjoy this early adventure of Crentar Bronn as much as we did. Perhaps, with enough comments & likes, he'll be inspired to write more chapters. THX
