Senior year. The last firsts, the last lasts, the last time pretending we know what we're doing. Four seniors. One year. College applications, heartbreak, late-night drives, panic attacks in bathroom stalls, dreams that feel too far, and friendships that might not survive May. This was supposed to be the best year of our lives. But no one talks about how terrifying "the future" is when it's suddenly now. And somewhere between the decisions we make and the ones made for us- Everything starts to shift. This is the year before it all changes. We just didn't know how much it would.

Things, like people, can change within mere seconds, minutes, and hours. I'm not the same person I was yesterday, this morning, and just a moment ago. Imagine how much has changed in the past three years.

There is a war raging within me, a constant battle between what I know and what I feel. My priorities became a blur after you happened, and absence never felt so real.

They were friends. Not so close friends, but they were still ready to help each other if necessary. Have met there, had a rest there. And all this is in the past tense... Because one day changed everything. What was whole, shattered into pieces, what was alive, now is dead, friendship was replaced by hatred, conversations by fights, smiles by anger. And all in one day, in one hour, in a few seconds... Just a couple of moments - and life is turned upside down. And who would've thought that it started with an ordinary inoffensive question?

You were an unexpected surprise, the defining moment. The collision of stars that slammed into me hard and sent my neat little world plummeting into the ocean.

... but prepare for the worst. When I was a kid, I thought that life was going to be like a Disney movie. Then, alas, life happened. And I found out, I was not ready for it.

I never thought it would end like this. I always thought I had a home. I always thought I had a family, but as it turns out, my past is darker than the lies they told me and the truth they kept from me.

Journey with me back in time as I rewrite the first Journal I kept from when I was in high school, and see that maybe even with how horrible life is most of the times, there are little things spread throughout that make life worth living. My high school experience was full of drama, tears, laughter, and most of all constant search of love, and approval of the people around me. I can't always get what I want in this world. Life is a beautiful mess. It's not perfect, and filled with a lot of disappointments, and heartbreak. There are moments when it all feels too much, but there's not much we can do other than go with the flow of things.
