At 18 years old Kat Thompson is ready to die.
Her father already expects her to follow in her older brothers footsteps and has decided to take over her future in his own hands whether she likes it or not while her mother just wishes they could get along like they used to. School feels like jail, her best friend has gone distant, more focused on her falling apart relationship instead and her other friends are more interested in partying and drinking than anything else. She's determined to spend her senior year in a blur of drugs and alcohol when she meets Olivia.
Olivia is a burst of fresh air, always positive and trying to improve herself. When she enters Kats life she introduces her to a new way to look at life and encourages her to improve herself and enjoy living again. Kat feels like she may finally be able to want to live again.
