They have always thought themselves as better and he a demon. When he left he didn't know where to go until the Akatsuki came along and offered him a place to stay. They're not just anyones kids he was pregnant with but Itachi Uchiha's kids. 12 years later Konoha has seeked him out. They want him back but Itachi isn't so willing to let him go back to the place where he was treated like trash. Not with his children anyway.
