Desiree Natalia O'Cleary is no stranger to trauma. More than three years have passed since her parent's premature deaths as she prepares to play the most important game of her young Quidditch career: the finals of the Quidditch World Cup. As she and her older brother Sean O'Cleary clinch the title, they are sure that the most exciting part of the year is over and get ready to settle into the monotonous life brought by the school year at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. However, an unexpected invitation to an international Wizarding sporting event throws all those plans off task as Desiree finds herself thrown into helping her older brother win the Triwizard Tournament. As it becomes more and more apparent that dark plans are circulating around her, the tournament quickly becomes a fight for survival as she struggles to keep her siblings alive. Coupled with all this are the unexpected feelings she starts to develop for a former Bulgarian rival that have her questioning her own decisions and whether she has what it takes to survive a war.
