Scott Branch has lived the majority of his school life being bullied and teased. All Scott wants is to just be left alone and not be tortured. Due to the bullying, he has never had any confidence in himself and has trust issues. However, Scott has caught the eye of James Hem, Daleville High School's star basketball player after being partnered together for school assignments. James tries to grow closer, but due to Scott's introverted state and William Dire, James' best friend and Scott's bully, this has grown to be very difficult.
