Two spirits occupy the same body by accident.

Riley was Quaritch's first child. He had her years before he became the RDA's security operations commander. He was a model father for the first few years of her life, but the loss of her mother made him turn into a cold shell of who he used to be. He brought this daughter with him to Pandora and lost her on the first day to a Thanator.

She wasn't a child, but she was defenseless against something so big and so powerful. She had become a well trained Sergeant before leaving earth. But it obviously meant nothing to the blue planet which swallowed the foreign forces up with its wild forests and deep seas.

The former head of the Avatar program with a moment of pity, made an avatar. He took remnants of Riley's body, Quaritch's DNA, and DNA from a Na'vi shaman, a Tsahik, and made a hybrid body with all the properties of a na'vi and the memories of his daughter. He went so far as to make the body so flexible in nature that it could grow to suit any environment on the planet. With the exception of the indoors. Thats when they made breathing masks for avatars. The body took only a year to grow after it's birth.

It was called Project Transient. And her creation sparked outrage and led to the hiring of Dr. Grace Augustine.

But even with all these events, there was still someone in that body. There was still a person who was relearning how to live and trying to find a new normal while vying for a parent's love and a place to call home.
