Kidney infection, also known as pyelonephritis, is a serious condition that occurs when bacteria enter and infect the kidneys. Kidney infection can lead to serious kidney disease.
When kidneys are infected they show some symptoms, these kidney infection symptoms will help you to identify any problem in the kidney.
Some common symptoms of kidney infection are:
1. Pain: You may experience pain in the lower back or side of the affected kidney. The pain can be dull and constant or sharp and severe.
2. Fever: Infection can cause a high fever, typically over 100.4°F (38°C). This fever is usually accompanied by chills and sweating.
3. Urinary symptoms: when kidneys are infected, you may experience frequent urination, urgency to urinate, or a strong, persistent urge to urinate. However, despite the urge, you may only pass small amounts of urine.
4. Blood in urine: Kidney infection can cause blood to appear in the urine. The urine may be pink, red, or cloudy.
5. Urinary discomfort: Discomfort occurs when pain or burning sensation during urination, this is called dysuria.
6. Fatigue and weakness: Kidney infections can lead to general feelings of tiredness, weakness, and overall malaise.
7. Nausea and vomiting: Some individuals with kidney infections may experience nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite.
8. Abdominal pain: In some cases, kidney infections can cause abdominal pain, often accompanied by tenderness in the affected area.
