Many nearby, and some not so near had sought her hand in marriage because marriage to her came with a tie to her father who was King of a powerful and very rich nation. What had surprised her was that her father had pledged her hand to their enemy. It was to be a marriage to seal a treaty of peace. She applauded the thought but hated that her father had given her to a man who had the reputation of being the most ruthless and even at times evil man. He gave mercy to no one on the battle field and gave none in his own house according to rumor. Now she took rumor and supposition with a grain of salt but even allowing that it might be blown out of proportion he was still a man to be feared and the thought of him as her husband was a very chilling prospect.
