The Jewels of Oleander

After 17 years of waiting, Sadie and her peers are anxious to be released from Oleander's societal education and expected to do something of importance with the remainder of their lives. Each student is aided in this impossible decision by the jewels they each acquired prior to beginning their education, but still the choice is unclear.
Sadie's mind has never strayed her wrong, even if it hasn't left much room for spontaneity. Her heart on the other hand, is a wild card that she doesn't know she can reign in if let loose. So is it better to live a predictable or wild and potentially dangerous life?
To add to the pressure, everyone's jewels are degrading and no one knows why. Sadie has to figure out why and how to stop it before its too late.
