Dorian's family moved from Texas when he was ten years old. Three years later, he had to change schools, but even in the new school, he had only one friend he could count on. Elias, Adrian, Mike, and David make Dorian's days miserable. Mostly they hurt him with words, but sometimes they push him, throw something on his head or throw him in one of the bins behind the school. And why does this happen?

Dorian White is seventeen years old, bespectacled, red-haired, freckled, weak, and gay. With all the teasing and disappointments of his past, he doesn't think he'll ever find someone with whom he can have a happy, balanced relationship. But love is what he's after, and he'd give anything to belong to someone he doesn't love unrequited.

After four years, Dorian is used to being bullied at school and is beginning to feel out of touch with words and pushing. One day, however, Elias Reed, the main bully, suddenly starts to approach the boy.

Dorian does not understand what is happening. He and Lance, Elias' twin brother, agree that something has happened or Elias has found another way to make Dorian's life miserable.
