Mita and Shiuli are sisters. Ashok is Mita's husband.
And that is right where the story could have ended. Had there not been desire, had there not been treachery, had there not been rage and fire and darkness.....but of what use is it to contemplate over had been's and what if's when life has already begun to plummet into unknown and dangerous waters.

Set in 1970's Calcutta, this is a tale about two sisters and the sharp turn their lives take when Shiuli comes to live with her elder sister, Mita and her husband, Ashok.
