After a vicious civil war, the country of Great Crenreave is divided into two regions--the 'Bright South' region, Gazilmire, and the 'Dark North' region, Mausehelm.
When Mausehelm is struck by a mysterious plague that turns the nation of both humans and animals into flesh-hungry monsters called 'Wholecast', young Swanhild Guilland must learn how to fend for herself when her father, a doctor, does not return home while visiting with colleagues amidst the apocalypse. After meeting Lara Pearle, a ranger who hunts the Wholecast, Swan must venture into the darkness of the land she barely knows to escape to the Bright South in order to find Lara's sister, a witch whom they suspect started the plague.
The pair must fight foes, defend friends, and trust in the faith of their humanity in order to survive.

*This novel is based in a gothic Victorian setting, and is greatly inspired by the story and designs of the video game Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series.
