In a dystopian future, a King and a Queen had four sons, the eldest one destined to carry the crown. When his life comes to a tragic end, the second-in-line needs to step up and carry the crown, while finding a wife though an old, sacred tradition. He - however, was destined for a Hawthorne wand.

A common girl who has been intrigued by the royal family - especially the second son that always hid in the shadows, gets selected for the Selection to fight for the soon-returning prince. She makes it her goal to win his heart, but is she ready for the secret he keeps, along with all responsibilities and expectations carrying the role of a princess and future Queen?
