Drestun doesn't deny any of these facts, because they believed them. It's true, isn't it? Especially in a world full of super natural beings. They honestly expected themselves to be struggling a lot more than they are. But what happens when a species they grew to fear because of their power tells them otherwise? Part of this story is to address the effects of global warning and humans causing an imbalance in natural selection. It's supposed to represent Karma.
