Persephone was the pride and joy of the Scavo family. Her older brothers were pranksters and rebels who most likely had nothing going for them in their lives, her younger brother was lazy and wanted nothing but to play video games all day, and her baby sister was just that... a baby.

But Persephone was nothing like any of her siblings. She was only fifteen years old and made more money than her parents combined, she cared more about school than she did boys, she was the daughter that every wife on Wisteria Lane wanted, and Lynette and Tom Scavo often wondered how they were able to create a being so perfect. Surely she must have been switched at birth or something of the sort, there was no way she belonged to them.

But that was the Persephone that she allowed people to see. When it came to her brothers' best friend, August Mayers, she was able to not be perfect, she was able to show him the real Persephone.

And, God, it felt nice to be able to be honest with someone. Until it didn't.

Persephone can't understand why everyone expects her to be upset at the sudden and mysterious death of her mother, she had always been brought up accepting death as a natural fact of life. With the threat of Child Protection Services looming, Persephone's father finally tells her what he and her mother had been up to in their little business in the industrial district. He had designed an automated room to euthanise people when they felt they had lived as much as needed, in an attempt to start combating overpopulation at a local level, hoping that someday the idea would not be taboo and he could operate his business openly. When Persephone's father has a breakdown and abandons her the truth comes out for the world to see, and the next few days are a whirlwind for Persephone, who spends a night in hospital, moves in with a grandmother and aunt she never knew she had, is interviewed by police and is finally taken to her father's trial to give evidence, all the while contemplating the moral issues brought up by what her father has done, and whether anyone is truly evil, deciding that if her father was trying to do what he thought was right, he shouldn't be punished. At the trial it is revealed that the automated room her father had been using to kill people was triggered by a signal sent from his home every time Persephone turned the television on, realising that she was responsible for hundreds of deaths Persephone breaks down. The next few weeks see Persephone building a new life for herself with her grandmother and aunt, having grown up considerably since her mother's death, still conflicted over what her father had done, and wondering what she should do next. [COMPLETED - ONLY MINORLY EDITED] ******************************************************** Greek myths - true or false? They should be false, and to 16-year-old Sophie Claire, it's never crossed her mind that they aren't. Until one day in History class when her teacher spends a day on Greek mythology and something strange starts happening - her friends and classmates begin to tell myths about certain Greek deities with frightening precision. And for some reason, she's began to feel a certain affinity for Persephone, the Greek maiden who was kidnapped by Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, and forced into a marriage with him. This isn't some coincidence or freak dream, she later finds out from a host of strange individuals who claim they're from Olympus, the grandoise home of the gods themselves. She is actually a modern reincarnation of the goddess Persephone, and she's not the only one. A few of her classmates also happen to represent the gods and goddesses from popular Greek myths, and the fact that all of them are present means that something monumental is about to happen. Something like being the girl to change Persephone's future, to break the cycle of kidnapper and victim - all by passing a trial. It won't be simple, she knows, and she's not quite that eager to take it up, but from the moment she found out that she was Persephone, there was no way to back out. She should've known, however, that dealing with all powerful, immortal deities wasn't going to be easy. They've got a few secrets and personality flaws up their sleeves, and they could be deadly. More than deadly - murderous.
