Lotus Eater

When you eat the lotus, you forget yourself. What should become rational dreams of what it could never grasp with its feeble hands. The world is idyllic when, in truth, it is nothing but corrupt.

Beau knows the story of The Tears of God well. Solis, a human paladin, sought to destroy the beasts in the name of God. However, as the story progressed, the reader learned that the beasts were not non-sapient beings, but instead they were beings with their own cultures and sapience. This realization did not some Solis from committing genocide against the beasts and ridding them from the world. It never sat right with Beau, yet when he's transported to another world, it's as if he has eaten a lotus as he follows carelessly after Solis.
