A new enemy is working alongside Eggman and the unspeakable happens. Sonic has been defeated and seems to be considered dead. The world has been conquered by the Eggman Empire and all seems bleak. Hope is lost. That is until Sonic's friends give rise to the Resistance; avenging the loss of their friend and taking back the world. Will they succeed? Or will the world's only ticket to freedom be wiped out like their missing hero?

A year after the Freedom Fighters disbanded, Eggman returns with a vengeance. To make matters worse, Cream and Vanilla mysteriously disappear, but they aren't the only ones. On top of that, the Commander of G.U.N seems to be losing a grasp on what really matters and Shadow discovers the military may be more connected to his past than he ever realised. Sonic's saved the world multiple times, with the help of his friends. But protecting the world from harm becomes a whole lot harder to do when the military's against you. And Knuckles knows, his best friend might just be the one they were all warned to save. Good thing Sonic's not known for being incredibly stubborn.
