Matryoshka grew up to be a servant girl only to find out when she is 19 that she is the princess. She falls in love with a fellow servant named Jim who becomes the Black Knight. When Matryoshka's brother finds her, he takes her back to the castle where she stays for two years. She thinks Jim has forgotten her and won't come back to claim her. So she becomes depressed. She decides to go riding and gets attacked. The Black Knight and his men, the White Knights, save her. Returning to the Knights' camp, they find the enemy waiting for them, causing a fight and the Black Knight to become injured. Matryoshka, not realizing it is Jim, takes care of him until her brother comes to take her to their ailing father. When the king passes away, Michael, Matryoshka's brother, takes the throne and sends his sister to live in the forest with an old lumberjack and his wife. Matryoshka lives there happily for another year before things begin to fall apart for her and she meets the Black Knight again. Will she recognize him as her lost love or will she think that he is just a stranger? Read to find out!
