The only times you had ever experienced adventure was through your books. It was hard to live an exciting life while trapped in Alfheim.

You know you're meant for something greater than wasting away underground.

unedited because i don't make mistakes
[Loosely based on the events in GoW: Ragnarok]
[Actions based on Jacksepticeye's playthrough because I am not replaying the whole game just to write.]

"Keep practicing, and you'll get better. If you keep practicing with the sand, you'll be better at casting illusions." Angrboda added, as she took the sculpture from his hands and placed it down. Atreus taps more into his Jötnar heritage. (Which includes a lot of magic and a lot of Shangins!) ------------------------------- Trigger Warning: Slight gore and PTSD/Trauma. Hey everyone, I was inspired by Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore for this fic, so I hope you enjoy! This ties into what I said above. I did a lot of research for this fic, and it was fun. (I hope some of the information isn't incorrect, and sadly, if it is, let's not take it too seriously.) For example, how marriages worked during those times, information about folklore, etc. I'm so glad that I reached my goal and I surpassed my 5k words and made it to 10k, which I'm proud of. :) I was also inspired by the video game Bramble: The Mountain King, and I added a little reference to it with the names, like Lillemor and Olle are the names of the protagonist and the protagonist's sister. Which are included in the fic. For the sections where Atreus is a "Girl," I will be addressing him with they/them pronouns. They will also be called Lillemor. (Which ties into the easter egg that I mentioned above.) I'm trying to apply the nonbinary and genderfluid to the fic. I really tried to apply these things and do it respectfully. So sorry if things sound weird or if I do it wrong. I'm still learning.

In the aftermath of Olympus's fall, Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta, discovered an infant hidden within Gaia's cavernous eye, a child untouched by time or chaos. With no one else to care for the child, Kratos took him under his wing. The boy, named Y/n by Kratos, was raised to be a formidable warrior, adept in the ways of survival and combat, a reflection of Kratos's own prowess and strength. Yet, Y/n's nights were haunted by visions of people and events he had never seen in waking life: a woman named Faye and a boy named Atreus. These dreams, blending past and future, spurred Y/n's quest for identity and belonging, pushing him to question his lineage and the life he led with Kratos, a life marked by distance despite their closeness. As the dreams materialized into reality, Y/n found a brother in Atreus, forming a bond built on shared loss and a mutual quest: to honor Faye's last wish by scattering her ashes from the realms' highest peak. Their journey, though fraught with challenges, was brightened by the presence of Arroyo, a girl with secrets of her own, hinting at the first stirrings of romance for Y/n. But their quest for peace was shattered by the gods of the Norse pantheon, who, drawn by Kratos's past, sought to destroy them. Y/n stood defiant, protecting his family against each deity that dared challenge them, their circle of allies growing with every confrontation. Amidst these trials, Y/n's powers began to surge, his dreams now painting a vivid picture of an impending doom: Ragnarok. This vision of the gods' twilight set Y/n and his family on a path fraught with danger, testing their bonds and their will to survive. As they faced the looming threat of Ragnarok, Y/n, guided by Kratos's teachings and his love for Atreus, prepared to confront the end of all things, ready to carve out his destiny in the face of the gods' final battle.

Surviving Together

14 parts Complete Mature

Set between the events of God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok, Atreus embarks on a pivotal journey of growth and self-discovery. For the first time, his father, Kratos, entrusts him to venture far from home on a solo hunting trip, a milestone in proving his independence and responsibility. While tracking an elk deep in the wilderness, Atreus crosses paths with Apollo, a mysterious witch-boy with a sharp wit and an aura of quiet power. Intrigued by Apollo's charm and curious nature, Atreus quickly forms a secret friendship with him, drawn to his unique perspective on life and magic. As the days pass and their bond deepens, Atreus begins to grapple with feelings he has never experienced before-emotions that challenge his understanding of himself and his place in the world. In Apollo, Atreus sees a kindred spirit, someone who, like him, carries the burden of destiny yet yearns for freedom. Their connection becomes a source of solace, joy, and confusion, forcing Atreus to confront questions about identity, love, and the complexities of his dual heritage as both mortal and divine. Amid the backdrop of the looming threats of Ragnarok and the legacy of his father's past, Atreus's relationship with Apollo becomes a defining chapter in his journey. It's a tale of friendship, self-exploration, and the courage it takes to embrace change in a world shaped by gods, monsters, and fate.
