Ingrid Hoffman was born in the Marleyan internment zone, raised among walls that told her exactly who she was supposed to be. But even as a child, she felt it-an unshakable pull, a quiet certainty that there was something more beyond the fences.

The Eldians around her believed they were doing the right thing. If their children trained hard enough, proved themselves loyal enough, they could become Honorary Marleyans-respected, accepted... safe. It was a future built on obedience.

Ingrid wanted no part of it.

At just ten years old, she made a choice that would sever her from everything she had ever known. Under the cover of night, she boarded a departing ship and fled Marley, chasing the unknown across the sea to Paradis Island.

There, she found them-a group of children who, like her, didn't quite belong. Together, they built something fragile but real: a life free from the expectations that once defined them.

Years passed. Marley became a distant memory, blurred by time and survival.

And because of that... Ingrid never learned the truth.

She didn't know about the war gathering beyond the horizon.
Didn't know about the plan set in motion.
Didn't know that everything she had escaped... was already on its way back to find her.
