Ultimate students who attended high schools and colleges were about the only thing that stayed constant throughout time. Needless to say, life moved on without a second thought because the people who experienced the despair were long gone now. But when Masaru Yamaguchi, a new college student, wakes up in a closed off school knowing only his name and talent, everything changes. It seems someone has taken the role of bringing the killing games back to life and now Masaru has to figure out who and why. (Book 1 of Universal Anguish) "To sacrifice yourself for the greater good is the greatest honor a human can obtain. Those who have lost their lives, died for our noble cause. Those who live... find glory like no other." Every year, all around the world, thousands of talented youths are chosen for the greatest honor in the world. Hope's Peak takes only the best of the best to represent their homelands in an experience like no other. Everywhere around the world billions watch in anticipation, hungry for representation among the global elite. Death and despair was a way of the past, though through a screen and the lens of nationality, the greatest tragedies make for the best entertainment. Masanori Chayama of Japan, and Nyathera Abiodun of South Africa, chosen for their talents, were given the chance to attend Hope's Peak Academy. They attend amongst many others for the same reason, promised the opportunity of a lifetime. What they all thought would be a dream come true, turns into a horrific nightmare right before their eyes. Under the control of the Aspiration Agency, all those involved can do is submit to the will of the game. While everyone's heart beats the same, some may beat with a stronger will to live than others. Thinking about it just makes me sick. My hands were trembling. I could feel tears falling down my cheeks. My face was getting hotter by the second. "I wanna go home..." I whispered. I silently weeped into my hands. Of all people, why me? Why did I have to be... in a... killing game? (Authors note: Yes, this is a Fanganronpa. But it is not connected to the Danganronpa series. So no, there will not be another "Junko Enoshima" or a reference to "The biggest, most awful, most tragic event in human history". Also, there will be no Hopes Peak Academy. This project will only have specific details from the original that I like. For example... MoNoKuMa. Maybe. You'll have to wait and see. Anyway, see you guys in the story!)
