Kim Lanc is a Halfling. Half Vampire, half human. She owns a business that she started to help her father, who is a co-sire to a vampire blood line, by finding stray vampires. She had a run in with a vampire one night and he almost had her for a midnight snack. She and her were-jaguar friend Jennifer Pierce, hear the rumor that Avery Strauss, a sire to a different blood line and the man from the field, is looking for her to employ her. Kim and Jen are trying to find out who and what Avery wants before he finds her. With the help of her father and Jen, she finds out who Mr. Strauss is and when she goes looking for him she starts to cause trouble. She runs into him at last, but she has upset the wrong people along the way. She must now rely on Avery Strauss to help her out of the mess that she created, but Its not that easy. Avery wagers that he will help her but she must become part of his line, as his wife. Will Kim be able to keep things mearly professional between her and Avery, or will she allow her feelings to overcome her and allow Avery to make her a full vampire like he wants?
