Harley Dixon was never meant to live the apple pie life. A Husband, kids, and laughter weren't things she dreamed of. Trying to protect herself, she held on onto the world of science to explain things. The drugs her father took destroyed his brain, making him not think twice about killing her if pushed too far and a mother who died in childbirth due to medical complications. Everything could be explained. Everything had a reason. Everything in her life was meant to hurt her. Believing her fate was set long ago, until the dead started walking and eating whom ever they could sink their teeth into.

Smart, capable, fierce, and very sarcastic Harley Dixon is beyond what her father drilled into her head, even if she can't see it a compassionate Grimes does. No matter the age the Grimes men always had a way of getting through to a hard headed Dixon.

Oliver Grimes had his whole life planned out. Play lacrosse, go to college, get married, have a loving family but something was missing and he couldn't figure out what. Watching his parents marriage fall apart and his father getting shot made him confide in his best friend but when the world fell apart his best friend went down with it. Leaving him with no one.

Stubborn, compassionate, and loyal Oliver Grimes believes people are complicated. The mind was never meant to be explained. People are people because of their emotions. Being happy was more important than being content. Never be selfish and always follow the rules. These things are part of humanity and everyone deserves peace in life. He believed these things with everything in him until he meets a certain Dixon and realizes it's not a bad thing to go after what you want, no matter the cost.
