It's been at least a thousand five hundred years since the battle of Camlann.
He's now an old and wrinkly man, good friends with Albus Dumbledore and Minerva Mcgonagall.
His magic had grown beyond the limits of natural and physic laws. In the wizarding world he's known as the greatest of all time.
Most people however think he's dead, long been so.
When Arthur and the knights, start their third year in Hogwarts, a threat comes back to haunt them. A threat only Merlin could take down with the help of the people he had once called his friends.
Dumbledore and Mcgonagall require Merlin to be a perfect, to turn him back but the spell doesn't work as it should, making him younger then he was intended to be.
