Our Reluctant Caretaker - short story form

Three grad school Ethereals decide to take humanity on a road trip to the Andromeda galaxy to start a fight with Jim - the Original who stole humanity while still in its incubating stage and fed them to giant space spiders.

Kit - a B-tier Creationeer (a worldbuilder) rescued them, thus becoming an untrained Caretaker for an incomplete species of only 12 left out of 500 members - considered extinct. With the help of her best friends Pan and Sid - A-tier Caretakers - humanity survived, bound to the energy of an Ethereal Creationeer. Basically she's a construction worker and traveler given a babysitting job.

(This is a short story form with adjustments made to the narrative. It was for a Reedsy contest until I realized Reedsy wanted me to put their name on it forever, and use it forever any way they wanted without consulting me or paying me in perpetuity even if my story didn't win. It likely would not have won.
