He was born in a small town called Strand, Cape Town South Africa. After matric, he qualifies as a woodwork teacher, teaching handcraft and mathematics at a local primary school in the early eighties. He was seconded to the local high school, teaching handwork and woodwork. He excelled as a sports coordinator and athletics and cross-country couch and received his provincial colours and, later his national colours as a cross-country couch. He studied further in architecture, he also completed his higher diploma in education, later a higher diploma in technology education and ICT, and a further in education management. He started developing material of technology and focus mainly in the development of technology. He later resigned to go work as a technology teacher in the United Kingdom for two years and in the same period did extensive research in the field of technology and graphic designing. He later returned to South Africa and taught at a school in Cape Town. He the got a post a technology teacher in Grabouw and excelled in this field. Yusuf completed a course in business management, project management and computer aided drawings. He was appointed project management for The Focus School Project. He got the opportunity to research the engineering concepts in school in Manchester in the UK. He later became head of the development for engineering technology and steered the new subjects in school. He was then district office as a curriculum adviser for engineering technology till 2010. He later qualifies as a life couch with couching, mentoring, counseling experiences. He focuses mainly on educator development. He is currently the principal of Botriver Primary School, Cape Town, South Africa.
