Chosen

With a tattoo given in childhood, there's only one person in the world who matches you, and if you find them, you find your soulmate. Ray receives her tattoo, and is told of the draw she should feel every time her twin flame gets closer to finding her. Instead she feels a searing pain. As the connection gets stronger the pain gets worse, and Ray's left wondering if she should seek out her Mate or run away from the pain and responsibility.

Slipping her hand behind his neck she smiled softly down at him, "you need to stop looking at me like that."

He leaned his head into her hand, "you need to stop touching me like that."

"I can't," she whispered, stroking her thumb in lazy circles.

He stood slowly, until he was towering over her again, "Then I can't."

She brought her lips closer to his, her eyelashes fluttering shut, "This isn't supposed to happen." she murmured

"Mm mm" he hummed disapprovingly.

"Then maybe we should stop."

"Maybe." He uttered almost soundlessly.
