You avert your eyes away from him, not liking where this conversation was leading. Sliding your body away, you turned the opposite direction.
You gaze lazily at his wall, unable to sleep and unable to speak. You longed for the tension in your chest to dissipate. You missed breathing.
Donatello made no move to reach for you, to hold you or rub lovingly down your side. His mind was too engulfed in his own pities. Streams of messy thoughts clattered against his skull as he willed them to quiet down. He missed who he was two days ago.
The both of you lay side by side, bodies only slightly touching. Yet neither of you thought to move, to leave the bed. The blankets were nice, you and he were comfortable here. Maybe it was better to just stay together...
Both of you were entangled in your sorrows while seeking solitude and penance. But without the bravery to seek penance alone.
