After Stanley begins to get bored of his job, and starts to get on The Narrator's nerves, Stanley feels he is slowly drifting away from him. But, after The Narrator finds a secret, but dangerous, new ending, he's so excited to try it and see Stanley having fun again, that he somehow forgets make sure Stanley is safe.
