Valeria is an ambitious, gorgeous young girl with a bright future ahead of her! She is born a Saxon and lives in Wessex. Her parents love her and her two sisters Novalee and Delilah more than anything else! Novalee and Delilah both are 16 years old!

Valeria is 19 years old and her parents trust her, to walk the streets of Winchester alone! Her sisters often complain about that and Valeria cannot suppress her laughter! She always promises, to bring a gift, when she returns.

One day, she hears the rumour about a wedding...princess Æthelflæd's wedding to be precise! Æthelflæd is about to marry Lord Æthelred of Mercia! Her parents, Lady Ælswith and King Alfred, are over the moon happy, for their daughter to marry such an ambitious and beautiful man!

Valeria is Æthelflæd's best friend and most trusted advisor! Æthelflæd trusts her with everything and of course she also tells her everything! Novalee and Delilah like Æthelflæd and also Valeria's parents like Æthelflæd!

Æthelflæd's parents don't really know Valeria and her family, but they are happy when she's happy! Then one day, Valeria runs into three men, on her way back home! King Alfred's newest warrior and his men stood right in front of Valeria...and she forgets the world for a moment, when the Irishman looks deep into her eyes! She knows one of them: Uhtred Ragnarsson!

Finan and Sihtric are the other two warriors names and suddenly King Alfred's bastard son Osferth, wants to join Uhtred and his men! Æthelflæd's wedding was only one breath away and it was Valeria's job, to get her ready! Lady Ælswith smiles at her, when she hands her the dress and leaves the girls moments later!

But Valeria cannot think about anything else...she always thinks about Finan, the Irishman! Sihtric and Uhtred are handsome as well, but Finan always found his way into her subconscious!

Will they have a chance?

Will her parents and her sisters understand her decision when she might leave?
