Having endured years of being bullied by him, when Lucas left town to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, all Allie could think was 'good riddance'. She hoped he was gone for good and she'd never have to see his face again. But now that the transcontinental railroad is compete, he returns to town. All Allie wants to do is avoid him, but Lucas wonders if there could be something between them and won't give her the space she wants.
Trying to balance helping her father work the farm and helping her best friend who has a new suitor, it's hard for her to believe him when he apologizes for past wrongs. Can she trust that he's changed or is it just another one of his horrible pranks?
