This story is set in a land called The Royal States of America, which resembles America with some British influence. The ruler of this land is Queen Ohairus III, and her daughter is Princess Selenus I. When Selenus turns 13, she is expected to find a boyfriend or girlfriend as per royal family law. However, there is no success in finding a partner for her. Queen Ohairus worries about the consequences of Selenus not finding a partner and becoming the first queen to reign without a king.
One day, Selenus meets a boy named Sir Maxwell at the royal academy. Maxwell is strong but shy and has a group of friends. Selenus and Maxwell become friends and spend more time together. As they grow closer, Selenus never gathers the courage to ask him out.
