The battle against the invasive Black Masks leaves the entire Valley reeling, the effects of which have become nearly unbearable. On top of being faced with new responsibilities, Phoenix is now left perturbed by Hawk's sudden coldness after Aleu's subsequent death.
As the situation grows more and more dire, the Saviors and Reapers are still fighting more than ever. The two groups can't afford to lose any more people. Once again Hawk and Phoenix are forced to work together for the sake of their people, especially when given an impossible task.
Meanwhile Aleu wakes up in the city, countless miles from where they had supposedly been mercy-killed. Faced with complete strangers that had taken them in-and their frustratingly calm leader Khan-they must learn to either assimilate or return to their abusive Keepers.

Firstly, A trigger warning for mental health/ self inflicted wounds when reading. you're only 18 years old. your name is zoe. you always had a love for the apocalypse but didn't think it would truly happen. and you slowly learn that nobody is who they say they are. Nobody is to be trusted. Things are gonna fall apart, and nobody can save us now. This book is being rewritten again and hopefully is better than the first and second time it was published. It's kind of cringe most of the way. Wrote it when i was like 13-14 years old or something and tried rewriting when I was about 16. Didn't work. Trying to rewrite it again at 20 but i don't think the first two books are saveable. Book three so far however is going well(i believe anyway).
