After Wei Wuxian's death, Baoshan Sanren was on a mission. She was going to help bring her grandson back. To do that she needs some help from someone she could trust. That person was Lan Wangji. Baoshan and Wangji work together to bring Wei Wuxian's life back, all the while discovering the real truth about how Wei Wuxian ended up with such a demise to begin with.

They work together to build a case as they discover the truth that Wei Wuxian was set up. Wei Wuxian also had so many secrets that became known. Some of them broke Wangji's heart and it only made him want to work harder to protect what was his.

Meanwhile, he learns some horrible truths about what was happening behind closed doors with his brother Lan Xichen.
