Follow a magical archivist as she spends her days in towns and/or cities where she either ends up saving the world without anyone knowing, does some book collecting, eat some bread (because bread is life), and does more collecting. Did I mentioned eating bread? She also eats bread.

Side Note/Disclaimer: I wrote this for an internship application that had a 2000 word maximum (I believe). So this incomplete story is just that. A short story just less than 2000 words. 

Writing this story was like pulling teeth. It also felt like it didn't quite want to be written... So until I get a flash of inspiration or the desire to actually write the rest of this story, it will remain incomplete).

Tales Of Wonder are short stories that are tied in to a novel I've had in my head for years. They are related to the novel and each other. These stories are mainly to motivate me and to test out different writing styles. Each short story will be written in different styles. They take place in a world where magic and science combine. The first story here, I admit leaves the rules of the world and how everything works a little vague but each short story will add more and eventually the novel will tie up the magic system. This story begins in the country of Britannia. A country where several certain races live with one another. And at the center of these races stood a girl. A beautiful girl with wild molten hair and eyes that reflected the universe. She was the creation of love and the child of wilderness. She was someone full of wisdom, wisdom she had gathered from centuries of experience. Many don't know how she was born, some saying that she was the daughter of the blazing sun while others say that she was born from ashes during an alluring eclipse. The name they called her? Malaika Kya. Angel from the diamond sky. For eons she wandered, visiting many kingdoms and gaining many friends. She battled battles that many would have died from, protecting those she holds dear. Slowly, her family began to grow. Person by person, home by home, kingdom by kingdom. Her heart spreading the biggest of wings. But then it happened. The one she loved most was attacked, almost dying because of someone's idiocy. And so she fought. She fought for her dying family, soon gaining the powers of the internal flame buried deep inside her. Screeching her painful cry, she fought in her new form with all her might. But it wasn't enough as it's hand sprouted from her body. Tears fell from the eyes of her lover, his eyes wide as he watched her body wither in pain. Hey dark eye were gentle a she watched his physical pain disappear, his wounds sealed shut as he snatched her closer one more time. Softly she apologized, saying words she wanted so badly to say before sealing their goodbye with a kiss. After one last smile, she disappeared into the fire below, her body dissipating into the molten flames as her words echoed into the soundless wind. "Mind telling me about that promise again?"

I looked at Tyke letting a smirk evolve on my features and threw a cocky grin at Elra. I wouldn't beat her, but I would at least hit her. I could take a lot more than Andre, that's for sure. I sauntered over not allowing any hint of my nerves come through. Shoving them down so far I could barely feel them myself. Letting the bravado of street life back in, I entered the cage. Elra was oozing confidence so I gave it all back to her. Focus, Ali. Focus. She wouldn't see me cry.

LOL XD ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A 18 year old princess who has been sheltered all her life. (Making her naive to the cruelty of the world.) She always wanted to see the world outside of the castle. Though everyone saw her as a weak helpless princess that needs to be protected, and hidden from the cruel world she desperately wants to see with her blue eyes. A witch shows up one late after noon and offers her magic mirror, that can show her the outside world from just looking into it. She only needs to imagine the place she wants to see and will be there. The princess though was being a jerk so the witch cursed the mirror. Making it so that the princess ever looked into it, she will become a fearsome dragon. "The princess will no longer be a princess and she will see the world she desperately wants to see. Her soft skin will turn scaled. Her silk like hair will disappear and be replaced with sharp horns. She will be the monster outside as that she is inside." Whispered the witch.

"It probably tastes way better than this crap." She throws her fork down. It hits the metal table with a loud clattering noise. "I can't believe I basically sold my soul in exchange for this." Gwen is taken aback, her eyes wide. "What do you mean, sold your soul? You didn't summon a demon or something, did you?" Her voice shivers a bit. "I knew you were an heretic, but that would be quite far, even for you!" Erin laughs. "No, not like that, Gwen. The church agreed to reinstate my food privileges and erase my rap sheet if I went on a pilgrimage tomorrow." "Oh," Gwen says. "That is great! Why aren't you happy?" "Are you kidding me, Gwen?" Erin yells. The students sitting two seats away from them look up at Gwen and Erin, and one of them shakes their head in disapproval. Erin leans forward towards Gwen and speaks more silently. "Do you know what happens to people who take the pilgrimage?" Gwen shrugs again. "No, I don't. Nobody does. You know the angels don't allow returned pilgrims to tell what happened. People have to keep it a secret." "Exactly," Erin replies. "Isn't that suspicious? If the pilgrimage was all sunshine and rainbows, the angels would want to spread the word. The reason we have to keep it a secret is because unspeakable things happen. I am sure of it." Gwen glares at her. "Are you trying to lose your food privileges again, Erin? If you lose them within the hour, that would be a new record."

Additionally, I uploaded a chapter stating each of said characters in this story just in case. :3 There exists a world where only children roam around. No grownups, elders, guardians, or parents were present. Only children, and not only that, but cursed, enchanted children. A cursed, enchanted universe indeed; where these children live independently and passionately as princesses, vampires, witches, wizards, ghosts, and several other wonders. A life of fantasy and adventure... only for this life to be involved with a horrendous war of two regions. One region was Young Magic Shoujo, and the other was Young Magic Shounen.
