~Nowhere else I'd rather be (When the world falls into anarchy)~

This is an end of the year writing project I made in tenth grade. I think the prompt was to write a short story with an emotion-based conflict? I don't remember now lol

Kai and Reed. Best friends, who swear to stick together no matter what. When a strange plague called Red Thorn Disease starts to spread, they assume that together, they will make it through.
However, as the world start to fall apart, they're forced to stow away in Kai's basement from the outside world with nothing but what meager supplies they could grab before barricading themselves away. Can they survive the apocalypse together? Or will they succumb to the End?
