After living in Beacon Hills, California for what has virtually been her entire life, she is prepared to face the unholy degeneracy of high school. Well, that's if you can even call having sharpened her peevishly sardonic personality and preeminent skills in the field of procrastination a method of "preparation" for sophomore year.

Luckily for her, that's what her right-hand woman, Lydia Martin, is for when it comes to making sure her dear friend is avoided the saddening fate of becoming another vulnerable victim to the innate couch-potato life, and instead, to be transformed into a much more presentable person in order to become just vaguely acceptable among her peers—which, of course, over the years has been deemed a feat more impossible than having the literal ability to achieve the impossible.

Despite all this, her #1 priority is soon forced to change from surviving the nefarious clutches of school, to surviving the fiendish hold of the monsters under her bed, a myth she believed to be just that—a myth. And unfortunately, nobody ever bothered to tell her that curiosity really did kill the cat because thanks to her two dorky childhood friends, she was now ensnared into the world of too much supernatural drama that seemed to make all the rational knowledge that was ransacked into her brain just a tinge irrational.

At least she wasn't alone in the upside down mess she was led to call a life. And whether her utterly altered lifestyle is presumed to be for the better or the worse...

Well, it was all up to her.
