I thought this was the end. I thought I'd gotten my revenge and could finally leave this life, a life I'd been forced to live, a life filled with blood and darkness, but boy, was I wrong. This was just the beginning, I touched fire and now it's back to burn me and by "it" I mean Ivan Kozlov. Now all hell breaks loose as the past comes to bite me, but I am Iris Zinnia Petrov and I never backdown without a good battle.

"Breathe." He dipped his head down so that his lips were right at my ear, his strong arm wrapped securely around my waist, molding my body into his. "If you're going to fall apart,." He starts, teeth gritted. "Now's the time. I'll be here to put you back together when it's over." I squeezed my eyes shut again, and I did just that. I fell apart. ******* Secrets. Lies. Deception. Murder. I'd seen and done it all. And not willingly. So I left. I sacrificed my freedom to save myself, and the only way to ensure my own safety was to start over. Clean slate. New people. New me. But the last thing I expected when I arrived at Manonwell Prep Academy was to be bombarded by a boy-no, a man who held some unknown vendetta against me. Call it obsession, infatuation, hatred. To me it was all one in the same. He was everywhere I turned, like a shadow. Watching me. Taunting me. Haunting me. And it was all because of something I did to him a long time ago. It was something so bad that he couldn't stand me, that he wanted me dead, and the idea of making my life a living hell was something that he took pride in. But I didn't remember. I had no clue what I could've done to him in the past, but he was hellbent on pushing me until I did. My plans on starting over were shattered the minute I stepped inside that school. He was the type of person that demanded your attention without having to speak. He was untamed and wild and unhinged. But what he didn't know was that the Winter Travers that he knew in past, the one I didn't remember, was no longer alive. I was different. She was gone and I was here. And he was everything I should've been afraid of. Sinister, quiet, manipulative, but I knew it would be a cold day in hell before I let him win. Ronan was like gasoline waiting to be doused on the fire that inside me, and if he was ready to burn, then so was I.

They should've made sure the heavens weren't on my side when they killed me. For I have returned in devils form to claim vengeance for the girl I used to be. "Who are you?" I have built up walls of concrete, I caged that strange organ in the centre of my chest because it stands as weakness. But it is melting melting melting, my defences are crumbling, my heart is beating. It's strange. ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜꜱ. "I tried that a long time ago." "And what happened?" "𝘐 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥." They spent years torturing me, teaching me I was unlovable, a monster incapable of loving. So I believed love was much like sand, an unattainable something which would slip through my fingers the moment I tried to grasp it. But now my battered heart gnaws its way out my body, pouncing into my stained hands, begging, pleading, falling on its goddamn knees as it tells me: '𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚋𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏𝚒𝚜𝚑, 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚖𝚎 𝚊𝚠𝚊𝚢.' TW.⚠️

Peach McCoy It's fun to dance with the devil until he drops you during a leap. At first, I'd thought this devil was none other than the Don of the Russian Bratva, Viktor Makarovich. He was hunting me down for hacking into his mafia's secret network and knowing a little too much about his little illegal fraternity. He caught me, I escaped and this was the dance I thought would get me killed but someone wants us both dead now. The beat of the music has changed and we have to dance together and not against each other if we want to find the guilty party and be alive to tell the tale. There's something about Viktor that lights a spark in me I thought was long gone. The thing is, what I wish we could have cannot happen while we move to what might be the end of our song. I'm smart and I can figure out how to hack into anything I want but for some reason... I only want to know The Code To A Don's Heart. Viktor Makarovich I was just supposed to track down a hacker. It was my way to get away from the Bratva for a while because since my dad and older brother were dead, the mafia was mine. I didn't want it. I just wanted to hunt, kill and protect under someone else's rule but... things have changed. The woman I thought I was going to kill somehow became my only accomplice. Someone wants me- us- dead and I'm sure I know who but the deeper I dig into the affairs of what is now my Bratva, the more unsure I become. The connection I feel to Peach isn't helping. For the first time in what seems like forever, I'm more focused on keeping her alive than myself. She challenges me, pushes me to my limits and being around her is more of a high than I've ever felt on a hunt. She doesn't know it but that great mind of hers, in her words, is finding The Code To A Don's Heart.

Black eyes. Soulless. Unforgiving. Grey. Ice-cold, but just enough that I'm able to melt it. Both make me feel something. The matter was, which one out-weighed the other? Rule-bound, my life feels more like a cage than it ever has. I have no opportunity to use my fire and break out- heat can only do so much. And then like a fish out of water, I have to attach myself to this man- a man I know is dangerous. But so am I. The thing is, I don't know just how much. Only when he touches me, looks at me, talks to me even if his voice is laced with Russian poison.. that's when I realize just what agreement I've accorded with. It's a crippling touch of fire everytime he's near, and the most dangerous thing of all- even more than him, is the fact that I don't hate it. Stone is what I see when I look into his eyes. I wonder, is his heart made of it too? Nikolas Volkov When a bloody feud between the Russian Bratva and the Cosa Nostra ends with one outback- I'm forced to put myself in a position I have no other choice but to fulfill. With the Pakhan on my back, eyes everywhere mean complying is the only option. Only when the moment comes, is when I realize just what I've gotten myself into. She's.. indecipherable. I don't know what the hell this feeling is. I know it's not good. But my body tells me it's not bad, either. I try to stay away, but feeling her tremble and light like a switch underneath my touch when she's so used to staying upright, it awakens a dark, fulfilling part of me. My heart's made of stone. It always has been. So why do I feel it sway whenever she's near? 17+ Mafia Dark Romance *Standalone*
