His chest felt like it was being ripped out, his throat being scratched violently by the attack of petals climbing up. James stared down at him, an unknown expression on his face but Regulus didn't have time to study him. He tried to hide the petals but he knew he was to late. James had already seen them, and he could see the obvious splatter of blood on his chin. "What the fuck just happened? Are those sunflowers?" James once again tried to reach out to him, going for his hands, wanting to get a closer look, but Regulus snatched his hands away and took a few more steps back. "You- you didn't see that, do you hear me? You didn't see it" And before he knew it, he was already at the bottom of the astronomy tower stairs, leaving James standing in the middle of the tower. 1/3 So it starts when Regulus is in fifth year (15-year-old) and James is in sixth year (16-year-old). The dates might not be accurate but just go with it. After a horrible relationship, Regulus was found crying in the hall and James found him. James comforted him and then they went back to James' room. And that's how it starts. "Regulus Black is never going to catch a break. He wants to bury his face in his hands and groan into them. The only reason he restrains himself from doing so is that the other figure skaters have started glancing over at him-probably wondering why the hell he's talking to a hockey player. Regulus would very much like to know too. Oblivious to everything else, James raises an eyebrow towards Regulus. 'I guess we'll be seeing each other around, then?' Seriously, how has James still not gotten the goddamn hint?" ~ ~ ~ When Sirius moves out, Regulus Black thinks that maybe James Potter will finally be out of his life too. Good. Competition season is coming up, and it'll be his first year at the junior level. As the upcoming skating star of the Black family, Regulus can't afford to lose-and the absolute last thing he needs is a hockey player to mess everything up for him. All he needs is for James to stay out of his way, and he'll be good as gold. James doesn't stay out of his way. And Regulus has a long way to go before he can even think about bearing a medal around his neck.
