A retelling of 'The Fire Chronicle' by John Stephens, from Rafe's perspective, with some deviances to the timeline.

It's Christmas Eve in 1899 when Rafe dreams of his home burning and a beautiful girl offering him safety. This only adds to his worries about the upcoming magical world Separation and the growing presence of a dangerous gang.

Despite the protective watch of Henrietta Burke and the interference of a time traveller who joins the Savages, Rafe's destiny may be closer than he expects.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 '𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞' 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 'I love you. I'll find you. I love you.' The lengths one can go for love. The sacrifices one can make for love. The tortures one can endure for love. Marriage takes effort, and no one will find out just how much effort it takes like Sanya Pevensie will. Quests and transformations and mortality, and struggles painful enough that the Sanya who had been a Princess could never have imagined. Grief drives even the most wise of people to rashness, and no one understands that more than Edmund Pevensie does. Brash brothers, compatriots that were once enemies, and a Narnia that the Edmund of the Golden Age would not have recognised. But marriage and grief are not the forté for all. Susan prefers solemnity, and brooding in silence. Lucy thinks listening is all she can do, in her little body. Peter must protect his land, damned be the pretty dark eyes of the Prince who had stolen his home. And how easy humans are to manipulate? No one knows that better than the Faerie Queen. - 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦: Dark themes, violence, strong language, nonconsensual voyeurism, self-harm, attempted suicide, sexual scenes, mental and physical torture, use of f-slur, unintentional animal abuse, dubious sexual consent, reflection on past trauma, memory of attempted rape and assault, murder. . . . . . #3 in #narniaau (27/06/2022) #7 in #medievalfantasy (27/06/2022) #90 in #faeries (8/8/2022) •••• The Alliance Series, as found on @EdsGryff: 'Alliance' 'The Heirs' 'Moonshine' 'Fairytale?' ••••

The year is 1899, and siblings Kate, Michael, and Emma have just been thrown out of their latest orphanage by the cruel Mrs. Crumley. The trio haven't seen their parents in over ten years, despite promises of reuniting, and have been left alone in an unforgiving world, not least because they are magic users in a time when hatred towards their kind is on the rise. In search of safety - and, perhaps, help finding their lost family - the three make their way to New York, a place with a strong magical population. It's there they meet the Savages, a gang of fellow magicians, kids who live in an abandoned church and make their living as thieves. The children, their protector, the capable witch Henrietta Burke, and the gang's leader, a fierce young sorcerer named Rafe, welcome the siblings, and within the shelter and camaraderie that they offer, Kate, Michael, and Emma finally find a place to call home. Yet even as they embrace life within the city that never sleeps, there are still challenges awaiting the siblings, from the enduring mystery of their long ago abandonment, to ever-present social inequities bearing down, to a shadowy, powerful force threatening those the children hold dearest, and the whole world.
